§ 01 — Intro

What is
Kaland?

Kaland is a movement-based shared experience built on physicality and discovery. As adults, participants get to experiment and play again — with their surroundings, with their own physical potential, and with each other.

§ 02 — Two core values

Two things are true
of every Kaland.

01

No prior experience needed

A key realisation for us was that none of this is a question of physical fitness. Play, movement and discovery are open to everyone, at their own level.

Anyone can play — the seasoned mountaineer and the long-desk-bound office worker alike.
02

Openly guided

Our experience and studies create a safe, creative space where gentle prompts let participants be led into play by their own curiosity.

We don't tell you what to do. We ask a question, and we pay attention.
§ 03 — Ambition

Why
we do it.

“We want as many people as possible to discover the potential for play hidden in our everyday spaces and in our bodies. We want adults to find their way back to play by getting to know the Kaland attitude.”

— The founders of Kaland BudapestBudapest, 2020
§ 04 — How we can help

Simple, yet
multifaceted.

Simple, because it starts from movement and curiosity. Multifaceted, because along the way it connects people and place, people and nature, people and people.

So it can be play, exercise, community building, art, pedagogy, self-knowledge and activism all at once.

§ 05 — Positive effects

What's a Kaland
good for?

01 / 07
Stress relief

Play breaks you out of everyday routine — the brain and body shift into a different mode.

02 / 07
Spontaneity, humour

A fresh, safe and playful situation dissolves inhibitions.

03 / 07
Collaboration

Shared decisions, chosen routes, mutual support.

04 / 07
Creativity

Moving outside the usual frames, new ideas are born.

05 / 07
Taking responsibility

The stakes are small but real — a chance to practise owning our own choices.

06 / 07
Trust and empathy

We tune in to each other, and trust builds — even without words.

07 / 07
Shift in perspective

It lastingly changes how we relate to our surroundings and to those around us.

"after that day I went home differently."
